About GoPaw

GoPaw is a pet-friendly city guide for Hong Kong, built by pet owners for pet owners. We catalogue the places where you can take your dog, your cat, or your rabbit — and the people who make those places possible.

What we do

GoPaw is a free mobile and web application that helps pet owners in Hong Kong discover pet-friendly venues, plan outings, organise events, and keep on top of their pet's health. Today, the app covers more than 230 venues across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and the outlying islands, in nine major categories: restaurants and cafes, dog parks, veterinary clinics, pet stores, grooming salons, hotels, malls, and 24-hour emergency clinics.

Beyond the directory, GoPaw runs a small editorial programme — practical guides like our launch series on dog-friendly brunch, beaches, public transport rules, off-leash parks, staycation hotels, and a first-time owner's checklist — and hosts a community space for events, check-ins, reviews, and photos.

Who's behind it

GoPaw is operated by Furix Technology Company Ltd, a Hong Kong-registered company based in Kwai Chung. The team is small and almost entirely dog- or cat-owning. The product was started in 2024 to scratch a personal itch: there was no single trustworthy place to find out which restaurants would let you in with a small dog or which beaches were genuinely tolerated outside the bathing season. Two years later, the directory exists, the community is real, and the editorial work is just getting started.

"GoPaw" is a registered trademark in Hong Kong (Classes 9, 35, and 42), covering mobile applications, online pet service platforms, and software development. The brand has been profiled in industry coverage by TechBullion, StreetInsider, CoinCentral, AInvest, OpenPR, Big News Network, Live Bitcoin News, and others.

Editorial standards

Our written guides and category pages are all written in-house by the GoPaw editorial team. We do not accept paid placement in the guides. Venue listings are similarly free — businesses cannot pay to appear, change their position in the directory, or alter their reviews. Where a hotel offers a "pet package", we describe it on its own merits and clearly note when something is sponsored, which is rare and always labelled.

User-submitted reviews are moderated for spam, abuse, and impersonation but are otherwise published as written. Where a review reports a serious health or safety issue at a venue, we contact the venue for comment before any action.

Data sources

Venue data is compiled from three sources: direct submissions by venue operators, on-the-ground visits by the editorial team, and verified user submissions. We use the Google Places API to enrich venues with photos, opening hours, and contact details, and the Google Maps API for routing. Reviews and ratings are user-generated. Pet policies are confirmed in writing with the venue at first listing and re-checked when users flag a discrepancy.

We aim for accuracy but cannot guarantee it. If you find an error, the in-app "Report" button on every venue is the fastest way to get a correction made; you can also email contact@gopaw.io.

Advertising and how we make money

GoPaw is free to use. We sustain the operation through limited display advertising (currently via Google AdSense), occasional sponsored listings (always labelled as "Sponsored" in the directory and excluded from editorial guides), and partnerships with veterinary, insurance, and pet retail brands where the partnership is explicit and disclosed. We do not sell user data; see our Privacy Policy for the full list of what we do and don't do with your information.

Technology

GoPaw runs on a React Native (Expo) cross-platform mobile app and a server-rendered web experience built on Express, PostgreSQL, and Drizzle ORM. The web app is what you're reading right now. The mobile app is available on iOS and Android. Both are kept in feature parity.

Get involved

The two best things you can do to help GoPaw grow are: leave honest reviews on the venues you visit, and submit new venues we don't yet cover. Restaurants, cafes, parks, hotels, vets, groomers, pet stores, malls, and emergency clinics are all in scope. The "List a Place" button on the map screen takes a minute to fill in.
